DABS installed six new transformers in Charikar, Parwan


31st October 2016: Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), the national electricity utility of Afghanistan, installed six new transformers, each with 400 KVA capacity, enhancing the access of electricity to more than 2400 families in 3rd and 13th districts of Charikar, the capital of Parwan province, Afghanistan. The total cost of AFN 52 million for the procurement and installation of the transformers was borne by DABS.

The inauguration ceremony of these transformers was attended by H.E. Engineer Mohammad Aasim Aasim, Governor of Parwan province; Mohammad Almas Zahid, Member of Parliament; Ghulam Haidar Sediqi, Chief of DABS – Parwan; Provincial Council members, Wahidullah Tawhidi, Media Director and Spokesperson – DABS; elders and residents of the area.

“DABS urges its consumers, to align their energy consumption during winter months to avoid power shortage during this season,” said Mr. Wahidullah Tawhidi, Media Director and Spokesperson, DABS.

“Post its inception, Parwan-DABS used to provide electricity to only 6000 families. Over the past four years and with the help from residents and efforts by our colleagues, we have increased the access of electricity to more than 60,000 families”, said Ghulam Haidar Sediqi, Chief of DABS-Parwan.” He also opined that, “Those who consume electricity illegally will be prosecuted”.


Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) is an independent and autonomous company established under The Corporations and Limited Liabilities Law of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (IROA). DABS is a limited liability company with all its equity shares owned by the Government of Afghanistan (GoA). The company was incorporated on 4th May 2008 (15 Saur 1387) and replaces Da Afghanistan Breshna Moassassa (DABM) as the national power utility. DABS will operate and manage electric power generation, import, transmission, and distribution throughout Afghanistan on a commercial basis.
