Under the umbrella of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (Afghanistan Portion) the Central Asia-South Asia power project, commonly known by the acronym CASA-1000, is a regional connectivity project that will allow the export of 1300 MW surplus hydroelectricity Power from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Pakistan through Afghanistan.
CASA 1000 is a large scale and complex project, which has potential to generate environmental and social impact during its construction and operation, hence a detailed Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) is being undertaken to help collect reliable data and rely upon that necessary measures should be taken.
As of now, remarkable progress has been made in the implementation of ESIA. The completion of ESIA survey will help smooth implementation of CASA-1000 project.
